About Master Chef Dominique Faury
Born and raised in Paris, France, Dominique grew up knowing that he wanted to pursue culinary arts for a living and went on to study cooking at College Albert De Mun and Chamber of Commerce of Paris. He had the fortune of working at many fine Parisian restaurants including Le Bristol, Taillevent, and Apicius; which have been rated 2 and 3 stars in the prestigious Guide Michelin. Additionally, Dominique has worked at the prestigious Noga Hilton in Geneva, Switzerland and has served as Executive Chef under the world-known Chef, Jean Joho.
Upon arriving to the US, Dominique served as a Sous Chef in New York City, Washington DC, San Juan (Puerto Rico), and in Chicago. In New York, he worked in the kitchen of Windows on the World at the World Trade Center. In Chicago, he met his wife Eileen while working at the Drake Hotel. After moving to California, Dominique became the Chef Garde Manager of the upscale Fairmont Hotel where he mastered the techniques of cold buffet.
Together with Eileen, Dominique went on to open a popular lunch cafe in Campbell called Twist Cafe in 2003 that served up casual American food with a French twist. They later added dinner service when Twist Bistro opened to serve more traditional French cuisine. The Bistro was an instant hit, being named best French restaurant in Silicon Valley by the Metro Magazine and was Zagat Rated.
After he closed his restaurants, Chef Dominique ran kitchens at Silicon Valley tech companies such as LinkedIn, Yahoo, eBay, and Brocade before moving on to being the executive chef of the British Banker's Club in Menlo Park.
Maître Cuisiniers de France (Master Chef of France) is the most envied title that chefs aspire to have. Master Chefs are chosen to preserve, advance and perpetuate the tradition of great French cuisine.
In 2017, Dominique became the 514th Master Chef of France when he was inducted into the exclusive Maîtres Cuisiniers de France society. Master Chefs of France are ambassadors of French culinary arts and are chosen for their dedication, competence, and creativity in elevating French cuisine and the art of gastronomy to the highest standards.
Being named as a Master Chef of France was a lifelong dream come true for Chef Dominique. As of 2024, he is one of only 375 active Master Chefs of France around the world. While nothing can top becoming a Master Chef, it has also been his great honor to represent the culinary traditions of his native France as the executive chef of the Consulate General of France in San Francisco.
Other notable moments in his remarkable culinary journey include being an on-air television personality for a bi-weekly live cooking show on NBC3 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Chef Dominique is known by his friends as someone with an easy going personality and great sense of humor. His signature culinary style would be described as classic French cuisine with an American twist. He also has a wealth of experience in designing meal plans for pescatarian diets.
